As with Instagram, simply pinning photos of your product line is not going to cut it. One of the reasons that Pinterest is so successful at driving traffic is because it is such as excellent viral marketing tool. When Pinterest users discover a pin that they find interesting, they can re-pin it on to one of their own boards. Therefore, the goal of businesses using Pinterest is not as much developing a large number of followers as it is creating media that is repinned a number of times. Some of the most successful images on the site have been re-pinned thousands of times.

Additionally, anyone can pin images from a website to Pinterest, so be sure that you are encouraging visitors to do so. There are a number of add-ons that put “Pin It” buttons at the bottom of blog posts which can automatically share media from your site to visitor’s boards. Doing this will ensure that your photos and website reach the maximum number of Pinterest users.
